We are Mikan & Tôma . Two people passionate about Japan and the treasures of the past. We love to rummage, hunt for bargains, and look for pieces that have a story to tell. KOGEDO is our way of sharing this passion with you: an online Japanese flea market where each object has been carefully selected, directly in Japan. Here, no dropshipping or mass-produced objects. Just real finds, unique pieces that have stood the test of time and generations.

  • Authenticity

No copies, no recent productions sold as antiques. Each object is sourced on site, in Japanese markets and antique shops.

  • Careful selection

We only choose what moves us. If an object has no soul or does not tell a story, we do not take it.

  • Transmission

Buying an old object means giving it a new life and extending its history.

  • Ethics

We respect craftsmanship and its creators, and we are committed to only offering responsibly acquired items.

Who is behind KOGEDO?

We could have written a super serious text, but we prefer to speak to you frankly.

Mikan une jeune fille qui porte un haori veste courte japonaise et qui regarde un sakura en fleurs

Mikan

She's the curious one, the kind to chat with antique dealers for hours to find out the history of an object. She especially gets Tôma talking because he's the one who speaks Japanese very well! A fan of fabrics and a seamstress , her favorite universe is definitely Kimono.

Toma

He is obsessed with detail, the one who can spend an hour choosing a single object on a market because he wants "THE right one". He is able to precisely date and certify a print in 5 minutes flat. A true fan of the Edo period, you will have understood, his favorite universe: prints .

And then there is... 🦝

KOGECHAN

Little mischievous and ultra kawaii tanuki, Kogechan is our official mascot! All good Japanese projects have a mascot, so we thought: why not us?

He's the one who manages the social networks and the blog, so if one day you see a cute post or a slightly wacky message, he's probably the one who wrote it. He often uses the onomatopoeia POKO like the tanuki who slap their belly. By the way, Kogechan loves to chat with you in comments or private messages... Don't hesitate to write to him on Instagram, he'll be happy to answer you! poko 🦝

  • It all started with our trips to Japan. We walked through antique markets, fascinated by these everyday objects that carried a whole story within them. Old silk haori , tea bowls that were used during hundreds of ceremonies , prints forgotten in attics ...

With each find, we asked ourselves: "What if someone in France could give a second life to these wonders?" The idea germinated, then it became obvious. We wanted to create a space where everyone could adopt a piece of Japan, whether it was a small everyday object or an exceptional piece.

This is how KOGEDO was born, from the word "Kogei" (craft) and "Dô" (the way, the path). An online store where each object has a soul, where each piece has been chosen with love and respect for its history.
