Q: Are the items sold on KOGEDO authentic?
Yes, all our items are authentic Japanese pieces, collected in Japan during our travels to antique markets and shops. We favor antique pieces from the Edo period (1600-1868) to the Shōwa period (1926-1989), and sometimes older.

Q: Where do the objects come from?
Our treasures come directly from Japan. We travel there several times a year to carefully select and import each piece.

Q: I'm hesitant to buy vintage, are the items in good condition?
All our items are antique, which is what gives them their charm and authenticity. We take the time to select pieces that are primarily in very good condition. Some sometimes show the marks of time; we examine them meticulously, and describe their condition in detail in each product sheet, with supporting photos and/or videos. There will be no surprises when you receive your products. Buying vintage from KOGEDO means choosing unique pieces, steeped in history, and contributing to more sustainable consumption.

Q: How can I be sure of the quality of the items you sell?
We spend time identifying eras, materials, and regional styles, and we only buy what we understand and can place. We prioritize pieces with real cultural or artisanal value—not just “pretty” objects. Our job is to filter, document, and convey. That's why every product page is detailed, sourced when possible, and accompanied by honest photos. You know exactly what you're buying, and why it's a beautiful object.

Q: Do you offer new items?
Yes, only under our brand KOGEDO l'Atelier , we create modern Haori hand-sewn from traditional Japanese fabrics brought back from Japan. These are unique, contemporary pieces, designed in France, by hand by Mikan, with love and respect for textile traditions.

Q: Are the items unique?
Yes. These are antique or handcrafted pieces, collected one by one in Japan. We only have one of each item, unless otherwise stated (e.g., certain tableware).

Q: Is it possible that the item has defects?
Antique objects are handcrafted and may contain irregularities, resulting from manual and artisanal manufacturing decades or even hundreds of years ago. These irregularities should not be confused with defects or abnormal wear.

Q: Are the Haori you create one size fits all?
Our modern haori are hand-sewn in loose, unisex cuts, inspired by traditional shapes. Most are suitable for different body shapes, but the exact dimensions are specified on each product sheet. We usually offer two sizes: S/M and L

Q: Can I make a custom order?
Yes, you can contact us via social media or contact@kogedo.com to choose your favorite fabrics and size.

Q: Is your approach eco-responsible?
We prioritize the reuse of old objects to give these treasures a second life. It's a way to consume more slowly, more respectfully, and to keep an often-forgotten craft alive. We use recycled materials for our packaging. However, we are aware that the KOGEDO project has a high carbon footprint, which is why we favor less frequent and longer trips to the site.

Q: Do you offer free shipping?
Yes, delivery is free in mainland France, to Mondial Relay collection points, with no minimum purchase. For purchases over €150, delivery is also free to your home via Colissimo.

Q: Is there a minimum purchase amount to qualify for free shipping?
No, delivery is free to a collection point for all orders with no minimum purchase.

Q: Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we deliver to select countries outside of France. Terms and conditions vary by destination. For more information, please see our delivery policy .

Q: Will I have to pay customs fees?
No, never. We handle all import procedures into France before the products are put on sale. Your orders are shipped from Paris, so you never risk paying customs fees or VAT or having your purchases held up at customs.

Q: Are the items well protected for shipping?
Absolutely. Each item is carefully packaged with suitable materials to prevent damage during shipping. We are committed to preserving these rare items. We are responsible for the product until you receive it.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payments by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, etc. except American Express), PayPal, Shop Pay and Apple Pay.

Q: Is payment secure?
Yes, all transactions are processed through our secure, encrypted payment platform. We use the Shopify platform and its payment system, the number one online store internationally and in France.

Q: I don't like entering my credit card information on a site I don't know.
No problem, you can use Paypal for payment, without needing to create a Paypal account.

Q: Can I return an item?
Yes, you have 14 days after receipt to return an item, provided it is in its original condition and unused. You must contact us first at contact@kogedo.com before any return.

Q: Am I responsible for return shipping?
Yes, unless we made a delivery error or the item was damaged during delivery and reported to the carrier. We ask that you return the package with a tracking number and the original packaging.
