    Description

    Beautiful Ko-Imari Japanese porcelain plate, produced in Arita, in the former province of Hizen, hand-painted.
    A piece from the late 19th century, during the Meiji period, representative of these productions that were both decorative and accessible.

    Its slightly lobed shape, with a scalloped edge, gives it an elegant presence while remaining simple and balanced. This type of silhouette catches the light well and highlights the decoration.

    The decoration is organized around large areas of aka-e red, punctuated by floral reserves and naturalistic scenes. It features stylized flowers and a small rabbit (usagi), a typical motif of Japanese imagination linked to seasons and nature.

    In the center, a sometsuke blue medallion presents a dense, finely treated floral decoration. The contrast between the underglaze blue and the brighter colors adds rhythm without weighing down the overall design.

    The balance is successful: a decorative, vibrant plate that is still easy to incorporate, whether as wall decor or for tableware.

    The absence of a mark on the reverse is common for Edo / Meiji productions and does not detract from the piece's interest.
