    The print depicts the station of Okabe, nestled in a narrow and steep pass called Utsu no yama, famous for its wooded cliffs and mysterious atmosphere. In the heart of this deep valley, Hiroshige composes a lively scene: travelers carrying wood, others descending the winding path, framed by a turquoise river and majestic trees.

    A tree with vibrant red foliage immediately catches the eye, contrasting with the cold blues of the mountains. Traditional houses, the silhouettes of porters, and the surrounding nature express the rustic beauty of Edo Japan.

    📌 Condition:

    Very good overall condition. Fresh and contrasting colors. Visible texture and print marks, quite faithful to the original. No snags, holes, or micro-creases on the upper part (see photos). Slight framing marks.

    🦝 Our opinion:

    A beautiful print from the Tōkaidō, Hiroshige's flagship series, here in one of the most intimate and mysterious passages of the road: Utsu no yama, between dense nature and discreet human activity. We love the cold hues of the mountain!

    Its very visible print marks give it a very nice rustic feel.
