    Kikugawa Eizan (菊川英山) was a Japanese master of bijin-ga (portraits of female beauties), active at the end of the Edo period. An indirect student of the famous Utamaro , Eizan perpetuated the art of depicting courtesans and elegant ladies with refinement.

    Her style is distinguished by soft features, richly decorated kimonos and an atmosphere of understated grace.
