Ukiyo-e woodblock print. [Reproduction of the Shôwa era using traditional Ukiyo-e woodblock printing techniques]

Type of print : Landscape print with scene (Fûkei-ga)

    Artist : Utagawa Hiroshige

Date of publication : Shôwa period, 1960s. Reproduction of the original Hôheidô edition. The original edition dates from 1833-1834.

    Publisher : Unknown

Format : Chûban 18.5x26 with margins and 15x22.5 without margins

Title : The 53 stations of Tôkaidô ( Tōkaidō Gojūsan-tsugi no uchi) . No. 18, 17th Okitsu station: Okitsu River. Grand Tôkaidô version

Subject : Two sumo wrestlers carried across the Okitsu River, located in present-day Shizuoka City. One is on horseback, the other in a rudimentary palanquin carried by four men.

Condition : Print in excellent condition with marie-louise. Glued to the marie-louise with 2 glue dots on the upper corners. Beautiful colors and good print quality

🦝 Our opinion : This is the most printed series of prints in the history of ukiyo-e. Nice gradient of blue in this lively scene. A real print, reprint of the Showa era making a work of the great master Hiroshige accessible! At this price, we go for it!
