    The print depicts the famous station of Numazu, the 12th post station on the historic Tokaido road. Numazu was a popular stopping place during the Edo period for its picturesque scenery and nighttime tranquility.

    In this scene, the full moon rises in the center, above the village toward which three pilgrims are heading on a path bordering the river. One of the pilgrims wears a grotesque Tengu mask, characteristic of pilgrims on their way to the Kompira Shinto shrine in Sanuki province. On the left bank of the river stretches a dense pine forest.

    ✨ Notable details:

    • Very beautiful authentic reproduction from the Taishō era, carefully produced by the Tokyo Art Association in 1926, accompanied by its distinctive seal in the lower left margin.
    • Vibrant and intact colors, remarkable finesse in the printing of details (moon, trees, characters).
    • This century-old print is accompanied by an old photograph depicting the Numazu station at the time, and a poetic literary text in Japanese describing the atmosphere of the mythical Tokaido site.

    ➕ Paper and colors in excellent condition, very well preserved despite its age (~100 years).

    ➖ Slight natural signs of aging on the reverse, attesting to the authenticity of the work.
