About the Artisan — Ishikawa Tokujiro

Ishikawa Tokujiro (1915–2005) is a traditional kokeshi artisan of the Yajirō lineage, active in Shiroishi (Miyagi Prefecture).
Trained by master Niiyama Fukutarō, he devoted himself entirely to kokeshi making from 1950. His work is recognized for its respect for ancient forms and traditional Yajirō style codes.

    🦝 We love

Its kimono and very beautiful and well-preserved Janome pattern (a rare thing). Its size is exceptional, rather rare for a Yajirō kokeshi! It will tower over your entire kokeshi collection!
