This vintage habutae 羽二重 silk haori 羽織, a traditional Japanese kimono jacket, captivates with its deep black color and smooth, subtly shiny silk. The elegant material gently catches the light, revealing delicate raised ume branch motifs, similar to rinzu 綸子 work.

    Exterior motifs

The design features painted ume 梅 plum blossoms in red, white, and gold, arranged on delicate branches that seem to naturally ascend the black silk. The overall effect is understated, poetic, and beautifully balanced. The golden accents provide a subtle gleam, while the red and white flowers create a refined contrast.

On the back, there is a magnificent plum tree. Below the collar, a kiri 桐 paulownia mon 紋 embroidered crest is visible, a traditional detail that enhances the authentic and ceremonial character of the piece.

    Lining

Inside, the haori reveals an ivory silk lining adorned with kiku 菊 (Japanese chrysanthemums) and ryūsui 流水 (water movements). This contrast between the black exterior and light interior adds an intimate elegance, true to the Japanese aesthetic of hidden detail.

    🦝 Our opinion

A very chic, refined, and easy-to-wear black haori. We particularly love the discreet shine of the black silk, very classy. The spring Ume motif is superb! Understated, beautiful, and perfectly suited for a modern wardrobe.

    Care instructions – Haori KOGEDO

    Cleaning

    • Dry clean only, by a professional.
For silk haori, choose a dry cleaner experienced in handling silk.
    • Do not wash with water (by hand or machine): traditional dyes may bleed, especially shibori fabrics.

    After the port

    • After wearing, it is recommended to simply air it on a hanger, away from direct sunlight.

    Garment Steaming

    • Gentle steam ironing is possible, without direct contact with the fabric.
    • Generally, it is not recommended to use a traditional iron. Use a protective cloth between the haori and the iron if necessary.
    • For textured haori, do not iron!

    Odours

    • We preferentially select haori that do not have a strong odor.
    • In case of a light odor, a very fine and localized misting, from a distance, of a mild fabric spray suitable for delicate fibers, followed by air drying.
    • Always perform a preliminary test on an inconspicuous area

    Precautions

    • Avoid rain and prolonged humidity.
    • Avoid direct sun exposure.
    • Avoid repeated rubbing and contact with light-colored textiles.
    • Do not spray perfume directly onto the fabric.
