This vintage 100% silk haori, a type of traditional Japanese kimono jacket, captivates with its embroidered scenes inspired by classic Japanese landscapes: bridges, traditional houses, pine trees, maple trees, peonies, and chrysanthemums are revealed in frames like fragments of painted scrolls. The warm hues — orange, ivory, golden — contrast beautifully with the deep black background. A very refined piece.

    🔶 Exterior Pattern

Traditional Japanese scenes embroidered in a style reminiscent of Edo period ukiyo-e prints (which we love so much): pavilions, flower gardens, bridges, red maple trees, and generous peonies. The embroideries are framed like open windows onto landscapes. The black background fabric is adorned with a tone-on-tone woven pattern of volutes evoking mist or water currents, adding subtlety to the solid surface.

    Inner Lining

Ivory silk adorned with large tone-on-tone woven chrysanthemum (kiku) motifs, the Japanese imperial flower, bringing brilliance and nobility to the garment's interior.

    📏 Measurements

    Material

    • 100% silk

    Condition

Excellent – fluid outer fabric, no visible defects, lining in good overall condition. Perfect drape.

Origin: Japan, found in the Fukuoka region.

A traditional, matching ivory haori himo fastener completes this haori, allowing it to be beautifully closed at the front.

    🦝 Our opinion:

This haori is a wearable painting. Its deep black and vibrant embroideries make it an exceptional piece. Worn over a black dress or a monochrome outfit, it becomes a true jewel! Perfect for looking chic during the holiday season.

    Care instructions – Haori KOGEDO

    Cleaning

    • Dry clean only, by a professional.
For silk haori, choose a dry cleaner experienced in handling silk.
    • Do not wash with water (by hand or machine): traditional dyes may bleed, especially shibori fabrics.

    After the port

    • After wearing, it is recommended to simply air it on a hanger, away from direct sunlight.

    Garment Steaming

    • Gentle steam ironing is possible, without direct contact with the fabric.
    • Generally, it is not recommended to use a traditional iron. Use a protective cloth between the haori and the iron if necessary.
    • For textured haori, do not iron!

    Odours

    • We preferentially select haori that do not have a strong odor.
    • In case of a light odor, a very fine and localized misting, from a distance, of a mild fabric spray suitable for delicate fibers, followed by air drying.
    • Always perform a preliminary test on an inconspicuous area

    Precautions

    • Avoid rain and prolonged humidity.
    • Avoid direct sun exposure.
    • Avoid repeated rubbing and contact with light-colored textiles.
    • Do not spray perfume directly onto the fabric.
