This vintage haori in 100% rinzu 綸子 silk, a traditional Japanese kimono jacket type, is a unique piece, reimagined by Atelier KOGEDO to give it a more modern cut.

    🔹 Unique feature:
The original sleeves were re-cut by Mikan from Atelier KOGEDO to modernize the silhouette. Narrower, they resemble the sleeves of a tailored jacket. This handmade work makes it a perfect piece for those who love the elegance of haori but prefer to avoid the loose "batwing" sleeves. The traditional opening under the armpits has been left to avoid narrowing the garment.

    🔶 Exterior pattern:
Rinzu 綸子 type flowing silk fabric in grayish turquoise blue, with a subtle jacquard weave depicting fine lines evoking movement – water currents, winds or stylized vegetation – punctuated with cloud motifs in slightly darker tones.

    🌸 Inner lining:
Soft off-white silk with undulating patterns, reminiscent of waves or stylized fans, in pearlescent and beige tones.

    📏 Dimensions:

    • Span (sleeve to sleeve): 126 cm
    • Height (shoulder to bottom): 80 cm
    • Sleeve width (under armpit): 22 cm (re-cut)

In the photos, our model Mikan is 1m58 tall. Recommended size: S, as the width under the armpit has been re-cut.

Its reworked cut makes it a feminine model.

🧵 Material: 100% rinzu 綸子 silk
⭐️ Condition: good – fluid and luminous fabric, a small visible stain on the lower right back (see back photos). Lining in very good condition.

📍 Origin: Japan – carefully selected from an antique market in Shizuoka prefecture, then hand-altered in our Parisian workshop.

    🦝Our KOGEDO opinion:
An elegant piece, easy to wear thanks to its narrower sleeves. Its changing color, fluid drape, and modern sleeves make it a contemporary Japanese jacket, ideal for everyday wear as well as for formal outfits. We love the Atelier KOGEDO/KOGEDO la brocante featuring.

    Care instructions – Haori KOGEDO

    Cleaning

    • Dry clean only, by a professional.
For silk haori, choose a dry cleaner experienced in handling silk.
    • Do not wash with water (by hand or machine): traditional dyes may bleed, especially shibori fabrics.

    After the port

    • After wearing, it is recommended to simply air it on a hanger, away from direct sunlight.

    Garment Steaming

    • Gentle steam ironing is possible, without direct contact with the fabric.
    • Generally, it is not recommended to use a traditional iron. Use a protective cloth between the haori and the iron if necessary.
    • For textured haori, do not iron!

    Odours

    • We preferentially select haori that do not have a strong odor.
    • In case of a light odor, a very fine and localized misting, from a distance, of a mild fabric spray suitable for delicate fibers, followed by air drying.
    • Always perform a preliminary test on an inconspicuous area

    Precautions

    • Avoid rain and prolonged humidity.
    • Avoid direct sun exposure.
    • Avoid repeated rubbing and contact with light-colored textiles.
    • Do not spray perfume directly onto the fabric.

By purchasing from Kogedo, you are helping to keep traditional Japanese crafts and culture alive.
