    Exterior:

Vintage men's haori (羽織 / haori) in dark blue Ōshima Tsumugi silk (大島紬), with a dense and refined weave, enlivened by a delicate light blue kasuri (絣) pattern. Ōshima Tsumugi is considered in Japan to be one of the most prestigious silk textiles, recognized as one of the three great textiles of the world for the precision of its weave and the complexity of its dyed threads.
The fabric offers a beautiful drape, a dry and silky touch, as well as a structured fall typical of high-quality men's haori. A sober, elegant and profoundly Japanese piece, in the iki (粋) spirit, this discreet aesthetic where refinement is hinted at rather than imposed.

    Lining:

The interior (羽裏 / haura) reveals a splendid silk lining illustrated with a Japanese landscape: Mount Fuji, powerful waves, and a takarabune boat (宝船), the treasure boat associated with luck and prosperity. The scene is most likely created using katazome (型染め), a traditional stencil dyeing technique that allows for fine compositions on textile.
Hand-applied golden highlights illuminate the mountain, the borders, and certain details of the decoration, bringing depth, brilliance, and preciousness to the whole. The lining bears the signature Seigetsu 栖月 accompanied by a red seal.

    🎌 Origin:

    🦝 Our opinion:

A superb piece in a sumptuous fabric: Ōshima Tsumugi silk. The interior is just as sublime with this silk dyeing depicting mountains, waves and a ship, recalling the spirit of Hokusai's famous wave. A precious vintage Japanese jacket, balanced between discretion, textile craftsmanship and Japanese iconography! We love it!

    Care instructions – Haori KOGEDO

    Cleaning

    • Dry clean only, by a professional.
For silk haori, choose a dry cleaner experienced in handling silk.
    • Do not wash with water (by hand or machine): traditional dyes may bleed, especially shibori fabrics.

    After the port

    • After wearing, it is recommended to simply air it on a hanger, away from direct sunlight.

    Garment Steaming

    • Gentle steam ironing is possible, without direct contact with the fabric.
    • Generally, it is not recommended to use a traditional iron. Use a protective cloth between the haori and the iron if necessary.
    • For textured haori, do not iron!

    Odours

    • We preferentially select haori that do not have a strong odor.
    • In case of a light odor, a very fine and localized misting, from a distance, of a mild fabric spray suitable for delicate fibers, followed by air drying.
    • Always perform a preliminary test on an inconspicuous area

    Precautions

    • Avoid rain and prolonged humidity.
    • Avoid direct sun exposure.
    • Avoid repeated rubbing and contact with light-colored textiles.
    • Do not spray perfume directly onto the fabric.
