    Exterior:

Vintage men's haori (羽織 / haori) in dark blue tsumugi silk (紬), with the textured weave characteristic of traditional Japanese silks. This spun silk, made from cocoon fibers, has a slightly irregular and matte appearance, highly prized in Japanese textiles for its natural character and great durability. The fabric is thick, with a beautiful drape and a structured fall that perfectly maintains the haori's silhouette. A typical piece of men's haori from the Shōwa (昭和) era, expressing that discreet Japanese elegance called iki (粋).

    Lining:

The interior (羽裏 / haura) reveals a superb silk lining illustrated with a tiger (虎 / tora) moving amidst bamboos (竹 / take) and rocks, in a style inspired by traditional Japanese Nihonga paintings. The motif, a symbol of strength, courage, and protection, is enhanced with hand-applied golden touches, bringing light and relief to the scene.
Sobriety on the outside, artistic richness on the inside.

    📏 Measurements:

Wingspan (sleeve to sleeve): 134 cm
Height (shoulder to bottom): 88 cm

    Material:

    Exterior: tsumugi silk (紬)
    Lining: 100% silk

    🎌Origin:

Japan — vintage piece from the Shōwa era, discovered in Hiroshima Prefecture

    Condition:

    – Exterior fabric in very good condition, thick and healthy tsumugi silk
    – Illustrated silk lining in excellent condition, colors well preserved
    – Presence of basting threads (しつけ糸 / shitsuke ito) on the sleeves, indicating that the haori has never been worn. To be removed before wearing the Haori.
    – No notable defects

    🦝 Our opinion:

A superb piece. This haori perfectly embodies Japanese masculine aesthetics: a sober exterior in typical tsumugi (紬), and a spectacular lining revealing a tiger among bamboos. The golden touches bring a subtle relief to the scene. A remarkable, perfectly preserved, and never-worn vintage piece that wonderfully illustrates the Japanese spirit: a discreet elegance where richness is revealed only to those who look inside.

    Care instructions – Haori KOGEDO

    Cleaning

    • Dry clean only, by a professional.
For silk haori, choose a dry cleaner experienced in handling silk.
    • Do not wash with water (by hand or machine): traditional dyes may bleed, especially shibori fabrics.

    After the port

    • After wearing, it is recommended to simply air it on a hanger, away from direct sunlight.

    Garment Steaming

    • Gentle steam ironing is possible, without direct contact with the fabric.
    • Generally, it is not recommended to use a traditional iron. Use a protective cloth between the haori and the iron if necessary.
    • For textured haori, do not iron!

    Odours

    • We preferentially select haori that do not have a strong odor.
    • In case of a light odor, a very fine and localized misting, from a distance, of a mild fabric spray suitable for delicate fibers, followed by air drying.
    • Always perform a preliminary test on an inconspicuous area

    Precautions

    • Avoid rain and prolonged humidity.
    • Avoid direct sun exposure.
    • Avoid repeated rubbing and contact with light-colored textiles.
    • Do not spray perfume directly onto the fabric.
