    This traditional Japanese kokeshi is the work of Honda Isao (本田功), a master craftsman of the Naruko-kei style, from the Naruko Onsen region in Miyagi Prefecture. The Naruko style, one of the most emblematic among dentō kokeshi (伝統こけし), is known for its linear elegance, vibrant floral patterns, and meticulous finishes.

    This piece, handmade and painted with great precision, perfectly represents the classic aesthetic of the Naruko school: central hairstyle, expressive face, and stylized red floral decoration.

    A beautiful example of the Naruko style. We particularly like the originality of its expression, with carefully drawn facial features, a lively gaze, and red cheeks full of character. The famous "squeak" sound emitted when its head is turned is particularly successful!
