    This rare artisanal kokeshi is the work of Tokunaga Shin’ichi (徳永慎一), master of the Tsuchiyu style, originally from Fukushima Prefecture. A student of Kenichi Nishiyama, he began producing his dolls around 1975, perpetuating a centuries-old tradition from the Tsuchiyu valley. Hand-crafted and painted, this piece is a beautiful example of the balance between color, elegance, and sobriety characteristic of this school.
