    Description

    A very beautiful Yajiro Kokeshi made by master Sato Naoki, an important figure in the Yajiro lineage.
    It features a highly elegant “janome” (snake eye) pattern, with perfectly preserved colors — red, green, and purple of rare intensity. The face, painted with remarkable delicacy, embodies the softness and serenity characteristic of the Yajiro style.
    The wood is smooth, the lacquer shiny, and the signature clearly visible on the base. A rare collector’s item, exceptionally well-preserved.

    🧑 About the artisan — Sato Naoki (1929–2005)

    Son of master Masao Sato, Naoki belongs to the Yajiro lineage, originally from Shiroishi (Miyagi).
    Trained in wood turning from childhood, he developed a style faithful to his father's, while adding a more colorful and expressive touch.
    Recognized for the finesse of his faces and the balance of his paintings, he is today considered one of the artisans who managed to preserve the essence of the Yajiro style in the 20th century.

    We love its perfectly preserved janome pattern on the top of the head and its still very vibrant colors.
    As usual, we love Yajiro, nicely cinched at the waist!
    An authentic and refined piece, ideal for lovers of antique kokeshi and traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
