    🍵 Description

    This natsume is a refined and luminous piece, emblematic of Japanese lacquer craftsmanship.
    Its perfectly spherical shape, known as temari 手まり, refers to traditional Japanese balls given to children.

    The Hinomaru 日の丸 decoration, literally "sun disk", is presented here as a radiant geometric pattern, drawn with great precision in golden maki-e 蒔絵.
    The deep colors — lacquered red, dark green, blue, orange, and gold — create a dynamic and perfectly mastered visual.

    The whole piece is based on a rigorous, almost architectural, geometric composition, where each ray and decorative band is balanced.

    This natsume is signed by Okamoto Yōsai (岡本陽斎), a lacquer artist born in Kyōto in 1932 who later worked in the great tradition of Wajima-nuri 輪島塗. Yōsai is renowned for his meticulous forms, precise decorations, and respect for the aesthetic codes of chanoyu. The presence of the original tomobako wooden box, bearing his name, attests to the authenticity and quality of this piece.
